Blood, fourth-wall breaks, and a surprisingly emotional bromance? Yeah, they actually pulled it off.

Okay, let’s be honest. For the past couple of years, keeping up with Marvel has felt like doing homework. Between the endless Disney+ shows and the multiverse confusing everyone, I was officially exhausted. So, I walked into Deadpool & Wolverine with my expectations on the floor.

I have never been so happy to be wrong in my entire life.

The bromance of the century

We need to talk about Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. The chemistry between these two is absolutely insane. You can physically feel how much fun they had filming this. Deadpool is exactly as annoying, foul-mouthed, and unhinged as you want him to be, but it’s Wolverine who grounds the whole thing.

Hugh Jackman slipping back into that yellow suit felt surreal. There is a specific scene where Logan finally snaps and just goes full berserker mode, and I kid you not, my entire theater erupted into cheers. Like, grown adults screaming. It was beautiful.

Not just a cameo-fest

My biggest fear was that this movie would just be two hours of cheap cameos and nostalgia bait. And yeah, the cameos are there (and some of them will make your jaw literally drop to the floor), but they actually serve a purpose. The movie feels like a massive, tearful goodbye to the 20th Century Fox era of superhero movies. It acknowledges how messy those movies were, but also how much we loved them.

Sometimes, you don't need a deeply philosophical cinematic masterpiece. Sometimes, you just need to watch two unkillable dudes stab each other in a minivan while a pop song from 2000 plays in the background. If you’ve been feeling burnt out on superheroes, this is the cure. Go see it. Have a blast.
