Review: "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League" is a tragic waste of time and talent

Rocksteady's return is a chaotic, live-service nightmare that betrays its legendary Arkham roots.

I waited almost a decade for Rocksteady—the legends behind the Batman Arkham games—to drop their next masterpiece. What we got was a generic, soulless, live-service looter shooter that actively disrespects its own lore. I have never been so profoundly disappointed by a video game.

The UI is a visual nightmare of numbers, status effects, and glowing colors popping up everywhere. Why is Captain Boomerang primarily using a sniper rifle? Why is King Shark, a literal demigod of the ocean, firing a heavy minigun instead of ripping people apart? Traversal is clunky and the missions are insanely repetitive: go here, defend this point, shoot purple glowing aliens, repeat.

The real crime is the story. The handling of the Justice League feels like a slap in the face to DC fans. Batman's boss fight should have been an epic tribute to one of Kevin Conroy's final performances; instead it is a messy shoot-out before an execution on a park bench. It hurts to see a legendary studio release something so aggressively boring and corporate-mandated. Skip this and replay Arkham City.
